divorce; Blanche and Bob Crosby married in an Episcopalean church because of religious differences. (She was Catholic, he was non-church going.) The minister was a friend of Bob's cousin (Edith from Rock Springs, Wyoming). Winifred and
Charles Smiley were the best friends of Elmer and Blanche and acted as Best Man/Maid of Honor, per Bob Crosby. The Smiley's owned a restaurant in Oakland named the "Pink Poodle", which is where Evelyn Crosby celebrated her fifth birthday.
The Smiley's had a place in the Marina District. The Smiley's moved to Oakland and Bob Crosby sublet the S. F. apt from them. Bob gave Blanche a key to the apt. AlthoughBlanche and Bob had "broken up", one evening he was surprised to come home and find Blanche cooking dinner.
